Privacy

We keep as little as we can, we list everyone else who touches it, and we delete it when you ask.

Who we are

Book Score is run by publishing.co.uk. For UK data protection law we are responsible for the personal data you give us here. Contact: hello@publishing.co.uk.

What we keep

  • The Amazon link you paste, your book's public Amazon details, the assistants' answers and your report.
  • The internet address each check came from, so one person can't use up everyone's free checks.
  • Your email address, if you buy, sign up to Watch or ask us to email you.
  • Your orders: what you bought, when, and whether the report reached you.

"Your reports" on this site is kept in your own browser, not by us. Clearing your browser's site data clears it.

Why

To make and deliver what you asked for, to stop misuse of the free check, and to keep the records the tax rules require for sales.

Who else handles it

  • Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI (ChatGPT), Google (Gemini)Answer the reader questions we ask about books like yours. Claude also writes your fixes.Sees: Your book's public details and the questions. Not your email.
  • scrape.doFetches public pages that block ordinary servers, such as your Amazon page.Sees: The web addresses we ask it to fetch.
  • Lemon SqueezyCheckout, payments, VAT and refunds.Sees: Your email, billing address and card (we never see the card).
  • ResendSends the email that your report is ready.Sees: Your email address and the email itself.
  • HostingerRents us the server our checks run on and where our database lives.Sees: Everything on this page that we keep.
  • HiggsfieldHosts this website.Sees: Standard web logs: address, browser, time, page.

Some of these are outside the UK. Where data leaves the UK, it is covered by the transfer terms each provider publishes.

Your report link

Each report has its own private link that can't be guessed. Anyone you give it to can open the report.

How long, and deleting it

We keep it until you ask us to delete it, apart from sales records, which the tax rules make us keep. To have your email, orders and reports deleted, email hello@publishing.co.uk from the address you used. You can also ask for a copy of what we hold. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
